“We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.”

Franklin D. Roosevelt, Great Speeches

Researchers in early childhood development, believe that the social development of young child is the most important developmental domain. It affects the development of overall child’s potential. Children with well-developed social skills listen more closely to the person who speaks; are more cooperative with others; they ask for help when they need, they behave more responsibly. The deficits in social skills lead to poor academic results and may lead to problems with social adaptation or serious psychopathology.

Furthermore, the social development of young child will have a great indirect impact on their parents, their teachers, and the society as whole. Effective activities and evidence-based programs to improve skills could provide significant cost-savings over time. The money saved from incarceration costs, drug treatment programs and government assistance coupled with the increased revenues from higher employment rates makes it especially cost-effective to expand programs that boost social and emotional skills development, starting in a child’s earliest years. Every child has right for a good life. We all as parents, teachers, specialists, as a society, can give every child a strong foundation for healthy and happy life through aiding social and emotional child’s development.
